Grayshott Pottery presents a display of Abstracts by Phil Bates
After a very successful exhibition at Haslemere Educational Museum, Phil Bates has now been invited to display a selection of his paintings at Grayshott Pottery.
Phil, who has been involved with the Pottery for over 50 years, is currently a Trustee of the Grayshott Pottery Employee Benefit Trust. He is expected to exhibit around 15 paintings.
Phil Bates said, `I work in acrylics using both brush and palette knife, the latter being my preferred choice having in the past been a modeller working in clay, plaster and other materials. Many of the paintings incorporate primary colours, textures, geometric shapes and pattern repeats, bringing abstraction together. Some of the paintings are based on memories and experiences and how I felt at the time I was painting, which I guess is a fairly normal approach to getting paint on canvas`.
Chris Greenaway, Grayshott Pottery`s Managing Director said, `We are delighted to be able to show these fantastic paintings at Grayshott Pottery. The pattern making and colours are truly amazing and we have been very impressed by Phil?s work. We are especially looking forward to showing them off to our local customers but also to our visitors too and I am sure that everyone will enjoy seeing them`.
